Acer Class Attend Mental Health Conference at Detling Showground

Recently, Acer Class had the exciting opportunity to join students from across Kent at a special conference held at the Detling Showground, focused on the importance of looking after our mental health. The event aimed to raise awareness, promote wellbeing, and provide young people with tools and strategies to support themselves and others.

Throughout the day, pupils explored a variety of engaging stalls and hands-on activities, all designed to highlight different aspects of mental health and self-care. A particular highlight for many was the chance to meet and interact with therapy animals, a calming and enjoyable experience that sparked lots of smiles and conversations about the positive impact animals can have on our wellbeing.

One of the key workshops attended by Acer Class was titled “Neurodivergent and Proud”. This empowering session encouraged pupils to embrace their unique ways of thinking and to recognise the strengths that come with being neurodivergent. It was an inspiring and inclusive space that really resonated with the students.

Reflecting on the workshop, one pupil proudly shared, “I felt very impressed with myself because I listened the whole time and joined in.” This personal moment of achievement captures the spirit of the day – encouraging self-confidence, active participation, and a deeper understanding of mental health.

The conference was a valuable experience for all involved, and Acer Class returned to school feeling inspired, informed, and better equipped to look after their own mental health and support those around them.

We’re proud of the thoughtful way our students engaged with the day and look forward to taking part in similar events in the future.
