Mental Health Support

There are a number of services available to support children and young people in Kent who are experiencing well being and mental health needs.

Key Support Services for Children in Kent:

  • Kent School Health Service: Offers one-to-one support for emotional health, behaviour, and parenting, as well as confidential text-based support (ChatHealth) for 11-19 year-olds at 07520 618850.
  • CYPMHS (Children and Young People Mental Health Service): Provides more intensive, specialist care for young people under 18.
  • Kooth: Free, safe, and anonymous online counselling for young people aged 10-16.
  • Moodspark: An online resource designed by young people in Kent for young people aged 10-16 to learn about mental health.
  • Kent Resilience Hub: Provides advice, tools, and webinars to help parents, carers, and staff support emotional wellbeing.
  • Kent Young Carers: Support for children aged 5-18 with caring responsibilities.

How to Access Support:

  • Schools: Parents can speak directly with the school’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) or designated safeguarding lead.
  • Referrals: Parents, carers, and young people can make direct referrals for support.
  • Urgent Care: For immediate, urgent mental health support, call 111 and select the option for mental health.
