Caroline and Amelia

Headteacher, Caroline, and Deputy Head, Amelia, had the privilege of touring two former pupils from when the school was known as 'Glengorse & Hydneye Prep School', around the school recently.

Amelia had been researching the old school as part of a Scheme of Work that she was writing for English. Coming across a number of communities around the old school, Amelia reached out to former pupils, some of whom responded expressing their happiness about the Glengorse site becoming a school once again. One of these pupils asked whether it would be possible to tour the school and of course, Caroline and Amelia agreed.

Although not all, some former pupils have very fond memories of their time at the school and Caroline and Amelia were delighted to have the opportunity to hear about what the school used to look like, where the old classrooms and dorms were, and learn about some of the exploits that the children got up to!

ISP School, Battle is a very different school to Glengorse & Hydneye Prep School, but the calmness and serenity of the grounds remains the same as do some of the main features, such as the large painting on the stairs. Echoes of those old school days remain in the shape of places such as the old swimming pool (now a diverse environment for wildlife).

Caroline and Amelia with former students

After the tour, Caroline and Amelia received the following message:

"Thank you so much for allowing us to visit, and showing us around. It was very special. Amazing to see it all again after so long, and wonderful to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen this century!!"

Having met with these former pupils, the plan is now for Caroline and Amelia to facilitate a reunion on the school grounds in the late summer of 2024.
