Mar 25 2025On Thursday 20th March three children completed the first of three Build-a-Bike sessions.
They had an amazing day, used active listening skills, really taking on board what the instructors Steve and Paul were showing and telling them. The children learnt how to build a bicycle from scratch. The children started with just their frame. After unwrapping and attaching the frame to the stand they added the wheels.
The children added their brakes: front and back, the gears and the pedals, the last part to add was the chain and checking it was on tight enough to work well with the gear changes.
All three children worked so well and used an assortment of tools correctly and were so proud of the hard work they achieved. Children even enjoyed a chance to ride their bicycles once they were finished.
Children were allows to take the bicycles home, they were provided helmets, bicycle locks and lights. Also children were successful in securing four AQA unit awards – watch this space for certificates.
